4x4 Off-Road Driving in The Lake District

With stunning views of Lake Windermere on the private Graythwaite Estate, our course is a real gem taking in the natural landscape with instruction delivered by our qualified team. We’re stoked to teach first time drivers and improve the skills of seasoned pros alike. With your instructor in the passenger seat you’ll negotiate steep inclines, jaw dropping descents, epic leans and water crossings, all with unrivalled views.

Typically each vehicle is booked by the hour.  Each holds up to 4 people, who share the driving or some of you may opt to sit back and enjoy the ride. We have 7-seater Land Rovers so can accommodate families or groups of up to 6 with 2 guests seated in the third row of seats. Please note that if you all want to drive, your time behind the wheel will be reduced the more there are of you in each vehicle. If you’d like longer, simply book a two-hour experience or multiple vehicles for one hour. 

Our vehicles; for us there is only one 4×4 – the original and best – the Land Rover Defender. In Land Rover’s own words off-roading is all about going ‘as slow as possible and as fast as necessary’ and believe us this is the most fun you’ll ever have at 5mph! 

Due to popular demand, we’ve created a beauty of an experience, new for guests to book this year; a 2-hour 4×4 off-road driving and bushcraft experience; combining 1 hour of driving with a mini outdoor adventure to include fire lighting, boiling the ghillie kettle to make a hot drink, toasting marshmallows and making s’mores all enjoyed with majestic mountain views or in our hidden away bushcraft base. Dreamy.

Following recent controversy within the National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site it’s important to point out that we avoid green lanes and this activity is carried out in an environmentally sustainable way on private land on a course accredited by the British Off Road Driving Association and the IOPD, that we constantly maintain.
