Lake District Boat Trips

RIB Boat Tours on Lake Windermere

WATERSPORTS IS NOW CLOSED UNTIL APRIL 2024.   We’re open all year round for land-based activities though 🙂 – go check them out.

What a wonderful summer we had – thank you to everyone who joined us in the 2023 season.  The kit is hibernating and we’ve left Grubbins Point to recover over the winter from all the fun and frolics from the summer.  We’re back open for watersports in April 2024.

Our usual RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tours start and finish at our watersports base, on Lake Windermere within the Graythwaite Estate. The one hour tour is an exclusive charter for your group, accommodating 1 to 9 passengers.

Once underway, our friendly and experienced skipper will stop periodically to tell tales of gun powder plots and the estate’s history whilst pointing out places of interest on the western shore before crossing the route of the Mallard, the Lake Windermere’s 500-year-old ferry route and circumnavigating the largest of the Lake’s islands, Belle Isle.  You’ll head back via Bowness Bay along the eastern shore where you’ll see some of the most enviable properties and their lake frontage gardens, passing the Temple of The Heroes and the arts and crafts architecture of the famous Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club.

Our RIB boat trip is a blend of sightseeing, stories and fun on the water and is often the highlight of many of our guests’ visit to the Lake District. Please note that we must respect the lake’s 10mph speed limit, but that doesn’t in any way remove the fun from the experience. Well, maybe just a tiny bit if you’re a thrill-seeker! 🙂

We provide free parking and life jackets are included.  We suggest bringing warm clothes and a waterproof in inclement weather. Well behaved dogs are welcome, and often love it as much as their owners!

Fancy something a little different? We offer private charters to suit your itinerary with our boat and skipper at your disposal.  Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss.

The watersports centre is a ‘pop-up’, from April to October and at the end of the season, we pack up, leave no trace and allow Grubbins Point peace and quiet over the winter before all the fun starts again next year.  With no electricity or running water, we run purely on our inner energy and sunshine.
