We’re not always available on site at Graythwaite as we may be with clients or running events elsewhere in the Lake District, so we urge you to get in touch and book in advance, rather than to arrive onto the Estate expecting to be able to take part in one of our epic experiences. We really wouldn’t want you to be disappointed.

We’re here 7 days a week during office hours to speak with, so please feel free to send an email or call the mobile numbers below.

Getting here

We’re located on the Graythwaite Estate between Newby Bridge and Hawkshead on the south west shore of Lake Windermere. The estate spans 5,000 acres and if you search ‘Graythwaite’ or follow the postcode that comes up LA12 8BA it will take you to the main hall which is NOT where you need to be.  We run 2 sites on the estate; for everything land based head to our 4×4 and Shooting site here (Google maps). Alternatively, if you have the what3words app please use ///dabbing.bearable.clockwork to find the entrance to the shooting site. The entrance to the field is not suitable for some lowered vehicles with limited ground clearance. If this is the case, please use the layby 50m north of the entrance and arrive by foot.

For our Watersports site head here (Google maps) or if you have the what3words app please use ///cracking.loom.dangerously to find the entrance to the watersports drive. Please note, the track through the woods to the lake shore can be a little rough in places but is perfectly accessible.

Both entrances are just off the main Hawkshead road, 1/2 a mile apart.  Look out for the Graythwaite Adventure signage on the road side. There’s complimentary parking at both sites.

Depending upon your group size we’re happy to arrange transport from your home or holiday accommodation.

A fun way to travel from Bowness or Windermere, on the opposite side of the lake, is to jump on the car ferry.  It takes 10 minutes, and runs back and forth all day every day (weather permitting). Please note, it can be busy with longer waiting times during the holidays.

We’d be delighted to pick you up anywhere on the shores of Windermere by RIB and transport your party to Graythwaite Estate.

We have a helicopter landing site on the estate should this be your chosen mode of transport.

Continue along the B5825 to Hawkshead. From Hawkshead, follow signs towards Newby Bridge. Stay on this road for roughly 5 miles.

You’ll pass Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery on your left, then Graythwaite Saw Mill on your right before the entrance to Graythwaite Gardens, also on your right.

For the 4×4 & Shooting site; after another 1/4 mile and on a funny bend you’ll see our entrance on the left. Please click here for Google maps.  Please kindly close the gate behind you, to avoid cows escaping – don’t worry, they won’t bother you. Follow the track through the field where you’ll find parking, and us.

For the Watersports site; after another 1/2 mile you’ll see a turning off to the left (signed Cunsey) – ignore that – you’ll see a gateway entrance with stone pillars on your left (signed Hullet Hall), with a red post box in the wall. Turn in here, bear right and follow the track through the woods down to the lake shore. Please click here for Google maps.

Follow signs towards Lakeside and continue on the B5825 as if heading to Hawkshead.

You’ll pass the YMCA Centre on your right then Silverholme Manor, also on your right.

For the Watersports site; after 1/2 mile you’ll see a gateway entrance with stone pillars on your right (signed Hullet Hall), with a red post box in the wall. Turn in here, bear right and follow the track through the woods down to the lake shore. Please click here for Google maps.

For the 4×4 & Shooting site; after another 1/2 mile (still on the B5825 heading towards Hawkshead) and on a funny bend you’ll see our entrance on the right. Please click here for Google maps.  Please kindly close the gate behind you, to avoid cows escaping – don’t worry, they won’t bother you. Follow the track through the field where you’ll find parking, and us.
