Experience. Explore. Escape.
We were challenged, in writing this website, to sum up the essence of Graythwaite Adventure in a pithy one liner. We considered our personal passion for the Lake District, our love of all things outdoors, our unfaltering attention to detail in delivering a career’s worth of events with CBA Events and our dedication to training but none of them captured our whole ethos in a single statement.
In the end we were discussing the quandary with a close friend and he said that’s easy ‘You love to share!’ and the more we thought of it the more this sums up everything we strive for. From sharing our beloved Lake District, to sharing unique experiences, knowledge and even a slice of wood fired pizza and a cold beer on the lakeshore what we love most is helping other people to share these snap shots in time and to leave with lasting memories.
Imagine waking up with Lake Windermere as the backdrop and nature as the soundtrack? We create our glamping village using bell tents which provide funky and, believe us, luxurious accommodation…
At Graythwaite Adventure we deliver British Off-Road Driving Association (BORDA) courses on our accredited site which carries IOPD Certification…
Lake District EVENTS
Graythwaite Adventure brings all that expertise and experience to Lake District events and we’re thrilled to be working on local events…
TV & FILM
The Lake District and Cumbria provides some stunning settings, scenery, backdrops and challenges required for those creating TV and film projects…
Perhaps it’s the World Heritage Site status, the stunning views, the breath-taking mountains or the famous lakes that makes Graythwaite Estate and the Lake District such a prime location for product launches? Quite possibly…
Good food. Good friends. Good times. To enhance your event at Graythwaite, we’re able to offer a range of lunch and dinner options for during your event or point you in the direction of some local caterers.
The Graythwaite Estate
The story of Graythwaite Estate is truly magical.
Graythwaite is a family-run country estate spanning 5,000 acres of the English Lake District. It’s rich in history, heritage and literary connections and continues to support a thriving community to this day.
The Sandys family have lived at Graythwaite for some 500 years, since the first Graythwaite Hall was built, and continue to be immensely hands on with the day to day running.
The family founded and continue to govern the nearby Hawkshead Grammar School where the young William Wordsworth attended. Beatrix Potter described the estate as ‘theatrical’ and made Esthwaite Hall home to her character Jeremy Fisher, the gentleman frog. Esthwaite Hall still sits within the family estate.
Since the 1980’s some of the Estate’s properties have been lovingly transformed into holiday cottages. The Estate now boasts a fine collection of traditional Lakeland built cottages accommodating 4 to 18 guests in the majestic Silverholme, a 5-star Georgian manor house, so there’s somewhere to stay to suit many a couple, family, group of friends or occasion.
